I thought your works were particularly strong, and of the right style that would suit our exhibition space. We are of course, always looking for something fresh and new to show at the gallery. I would therefore like to introduce you to The Brick Lane Gallery as a potential space to consider for your next project.

As well as our solo exhibition programme, our gallery team organises regularly curated group shows including ART IN MIND which is a particularly good opportunity for emerging and international artists to show their themed works. This is a very popular group show that features a group of selected artists who we showcase to our gallery networks and audiences. We are currently researching for new artists to exhibit in our 2015 group exhibition between the 13th - 26th October 2015 and believe your works could be suitable. Uniquely, the exhibition is fee-based, and no commission is taken on sales.

Pour ceux qui ne lisent pas l'anglais, ça veut dire en gros qu'ils ont repéré mon travail sur Saatchi Art (un site de vente d'art en ligne), et qu'ils le trouvent "fort", et qu'ils le verraient bien dans leur galerie londonnienne, etc.... (de quoi se sentir fier, non ?). 

Hum... a fee-based exhibition ! ce qui veut dire: Cher artiste "vache à lait", tu vas payer très cher pour pouvoir accrocher tes toiles dans notre toute petite galerie londonienne (hey !! c'est Londres, quand même !), et comme nous ne percevons pas de commission sur les ventes, sois bien assuré que nous ne ferons aucun effort pour les dites ventes. Pas de communication pour faire venir les collectionneurs, pas de promotion de ton art.  Et comme tu ne seras pas là pour le constater, nous serons bien tranquilles !

Cette pratique est très courante. Il ne s'agit pas de véritables galeristes, mais de loueurs de cimaises. A fuir ! Les vrais galeristes vous prennent sous leur aile parce qu'ils aiment ce que vous faites et qu'ils feront tout pour que votre travail soit découvert et acheté. Ils mouilleront leur chemise, ce qui vaut bien la commission, même si elle vous paraït élévée, qu'ils prendront sur le produit de la vente.
